As another summer comes to a close, we can’t believe how fast these past 9 weeks have flown by. Not only was this Plate 108’s longest running Kids Camp summer to date, but it was the most successful. At Plate 108 success is not measured in cups and teaspoons, but instead in smiles, creativity and good eats. The culinary students that joined us this summer were a cut above rest. As a staff, we feel grateful to have worked with your child as we have learned from them as much as we hope they learned from us. We wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few glimpses of a day in the life at Plate 108 Kid’s Camp 2016.
Campers referring to raisins as “grandmas”
Chef Courtney singing and dancing for campers (funny, but mostly terrifying!)
Cha-Cha Sliding to make homemade butter
Campers getting giddy when they found out they’d be making, of all things, hot dogs
Spontaneous Taylor Swift sing-a-longs
Every time a fire truck drove by, the kid’s faces were glued to the front window. This sometimes happened multiple times a day.
Kids trying new foods for the first time, and enjoying them!
Campers saying they were going to teach their siblings and parents the new recipes they’d learned.
Our Cupcake Extravaganza campers making cupcakes so beautiful they could be served at any upstate bakery.
Kids working together in teams and encouraging each other through tricky steps in a recipe.
Our Intro to Culinary Arts campers presenting a fabulous fine dining meal to two of their special guests.
Kids dreaming of opening their own restaurant or bakery when they grow up.
Shy kids on Monday turning into confident chefs by Friday.
If you had fun with us this summer, we’d love to have you back in summers to come! If you missed out this time around, please consider us next summer for a week your child won’t forget!
